The Spiritual Need in Papua New Guinea
Almost 90 percent of Papua New Guineans claim to be Christians, but for most that means they attend church on the weekend and do whatever they want the rest of the week.
After World War II, new religions flooded into Papua New Guinea (PNG). The New Guineans took western religion and mixed it with animism and spirit worship, and they created their own religion they still practice today. PNG is lost, but they do not admit it. Some might say this region has been reached. However, PNG has only been reached with religion, not true Christianity.
A fruitful response to the gospel continues to encourage ABWE Canada missionaries to intensify efforts in reaching Papua New Guineans for Christ. Evangelism among high school and college students is an especially fruitful ministry here.
ABWE Canada in Papua New Guinea
ABWE Canada believes that by training faithful men and women who are able to teach others, we can reach this nation for Christ.
Goroka Baptist Bible College (GBBC) exists to train Papua New Guineans in methods for reaching their communities with the gospel. For 40 years, God has enabled GBBC to train and send out over 400 men and women for gospel ministry. Many have served the Lord for more than 20 or 30 years in every province in PNG. Over 100 churches have GBBC alumni serving as pastors and in other ministries within their churches.
We are looking for teammates with a passion for accounting, medical ministry, evangelism, and tribal outreach to join our team.
